About

Hi! I’m Cath!

Aspiring character and concept artist, having studied Games Art at University of Gloucestershire and achieving a first. Always had an eye for conceptualisation of pieces as well as creating fully rendered artwork, alongside the 3D modelling/sculpting pipeline that follows after the concept art creation.

Learning more about the workflows of this industry have been a huge insight into how the industry works, from 2D pieces to fully rendered animation/game ready models. With my skills in both concept pieces and fully finished 3D models, with the motivation to work in one or both areas, my understanding of these areas from beginning to end is solid.

Having a passion and interest in video games and the work that goes behind them from a very young age, an opportunity in industry post-grad is a main goal for me.

I am sufficient and skilled at these software packages, which have highly transferable skills.

A majority of my hard surface modelling takes place in 3DS Max, with the more organic forms being created in Zbrush with scultping. Using 3DS Max for retopology makes this pipeline of work incredibly strong and efficient. An average model, like my 'Beast Hunter' on my Portfolio, took a total of 3 days to fully retopologise. My Zbrush has almost entirely been self taught as well.

Photoshop is where my concept art begins. Sometimes scanning in traditional pencil artwork, I work in Photoshop to create fully rendered concept pieces as well as more sketchy and form-based pieces too for structure. Turn arounds are also produced here.

Painter is where I bake and texture my work, using the powerful generators within the program as well as making my own textures. Painting inside this program feels very natural for me, and has produced beautiful outcomes thus far.
